420,000 BTU's of hotness!
By Power Tool!
I bought mine from Costco for under $100.00. While I was standing there trying to decide a guy walked by and said "I bought one for my RV, it gets very hot, very fast." So I bought it and it does get very very hot, very very fast. I love it. I can cook 2 very thick steaks in about 15 minutes (keep the lid closed). Be sure to wrap the parts in foil before you cook because its a pain to keep clean.

5Excellent Small Gas Grill
By Will
I have read earlier reviews of the Nexgrill Outdoor Table Top Gas Grill that stated that this unit did not get hot enough to sear steaks. I purchased the Costco model (Nexgrill Model #820-0015) and have been extremely satisfied with the grill. Not only was the grill fully assembled in-box, but when connected to a 20lb LP cylinder it lights easily and gets very hot. The thickness of the Stainless Steel used to construct the grill is not extremely robust, but more than adequate for the given design and price point. The grill grate, however, is very solid and heavy and heats quite well to sear foods. The burner controls have a built in flame ignition mechanism that works quite well. All you need to do after opening up the tank valve is to rotate the burner control counter clockwise just a bit until you hear the gas flow begin, wait a second or two, and then continue to rotate a quarter turn. The spark mechanism will then ignite the gas - simple and elegant. The grill grate also has a small pass through for lighting the burners with an extended lighter or the supplied match holder (approx. 6" wire rod with a coil on one end that allows you to insert a lit match). These design elements are well thought out and impressive at this price point.Getting back to the actual grill performance, I used my Thermopen instant read thermometer to measure the air temperature of the grill vent located on the top rear of the unit. My Thermopen has a maximum temperature reading of 572 degrees F., and the temp inside the vent easily exceeded this limit when measured with the lid closed and both burners on "High". I also measured the vent temperature at over 375 degrees with one burner off and the other on it's lowest setting with the lid closed. This grill easily gets hot enough to sear steaks. My only real issues with the grill design are the limited space from the grill grate to the inside of the lid when closed, and the amount of venting for the burners on the sides and back. The shallow lid makes it impossible to cook a roast with the lid closed, although a small Tri-Tip roast will fit due to the tapered nature of this cut. Due to the burner vents, you will have to be sure to block the wind gusts from blowing out the burners if used on windy days, but this is true with many gas grill designs. All said, this is a well made and quite functional little gas grill.

4BTU's are BTU's
By Jersey Geek
I don't know what the previous reviewer was doing. I bought this grill specifically based on the build quality I saw in the store. I had previously bought a small grill from a big box home repair store that didn't look nearly as good in the store, and has performed mediocre to date. What sold me was the 20,000 btu rating. My big grill is a 4 burner model that was rated twice that and it has serious heat.So I fired it up and grilled some chicken. I had no problem preheating or getting a good sear on it. I had no problem getting the grill hot. It put out heat just as well as my big grill which is one of the hottest grills I've ever owned. The only long term issue I could see is that the diffuser plates aren't "diffuse" enough. It does tend to get hot in the middle. That can be handled with good grill management though. If the build and long term quality is 50% better than my old portable, I'll make the rating a 5 star. For the price payed you can't beat the value.
